I've done this before

Changing company in recruitment is never an easy decision. You probably feel a loyalty to your current employer (and why wouldn't you?), you're on a desk you've worked hard to build and you're earning commission, it's hard to walk away from! Or, like many people, you've started to feel disengaged with the recruitment industry, you're sick of KPIs but you still love recruitment and you're looking for somewhere better.

We truly believe Pod can offer you a fantastic environment to do recruitment in. You can be yourself working here, we have no crap KPIs and we'll offer you great progression and development.

This page will tell you a bit more about people who were like you once, considering a move, hovering over the apply button. They were brave, they made the leap, and now they are here. Come on in and find out more...

Because their values align to mine; honest, collaborative and committed to delivering a fantastic service to candidates & clients!

I was frustrated and disillusioned by the way other companies operated in the recruitment industry and I wanted to join a company that worked to change this perception and do things the right way.

I had reached the point where I was planning to leave the recruitment industry. I hated the daily lying and cheating and being someone I wasn't at work. Pod allowed me to be myself and still be a successful recruiter.

I joined Pod because I was looking to join a successful business with an adult environment where I could continue to develop, Pod ticked all of these boxes for me.

I joined Pod because I wanted to work in a recruitment company that really cares about the quality of work it does and the people it employees. Pod is the leader in supply chain recruitment and I was excited to be part of that!

After reading the Glassdoor reviews, and hearing recommendations from candidates I had previously worked with in the market, it was clear that Pod strive to change the often-negative perception that people have on recruitment agencies. They offer a unique and caring approach to recruitment, rather than a focus on just hitting numbers/KPIs like most. Pod promotes a collaborative environment, and offers the freedom for each person to work, grow and develop in their own individual way.

benefits and incentives

monthly and quarterly company incentives
Hitting quarterly target means everyone goes on a fun afternoon adventure, often involving an activity such as crazy golf, hiring a boat on the canal, bowling or even axe-throwing. We also have a quarterly lunch club for high performers which involves a fancy restaurant and afternoon off, and prizes for employee of the month and making your first placement.
work from home
We learnt a lot in 2020. One of those things is that our staff enjoy the flexibility to work from home but also enjoy having an office too! So once things go back to "normal" we'll be implementing a flexible working model, allowing people to work in the office 2-3 days a week and the rest from home.
HEKA
Heka is a health and wellness platform giving employees access to gym memberships, healthy food packages, mindfulness applications, coaching, health classes and much more. You get a discount on everything via Heka and Pod also give employees credit to spend each month!
private healthcare
Once passing probation, all staff are offered private health insurance. We have very comprehensive cover available for that extra peace of mind, knowing that if something happens, you’re covered.
flexible working
We want our staff to feel energised and be at their best at work. Typically, recruitment was known for its long hours, but we don’t believe working longer hours means working harder! We have set core hours between 9.30-4, and you can choose your start time around this to make it work for you.
free breakfast, snacks and fruit
As the old saying goes, we believe breakfast really is the most important meal of the day! We provide all staff with more breakfast options than you can shake a stick at, as well as lots of fresh fruit to keep you healthy (disclaimer: if you want to supplement this by buying biscuits and chocolate that’s fine, as long as you share with us)

I joined pod from another recruitment business...

what is your role at pod?

I manage our International business, and personally I recruit senior level appointments particularly in the areas of Operations, R&D and Supply Chain

how has your role developed since you joined?

I’ve had various roles since I joined the team, always focussed on trying to improve the service offer we can provide for clients, so I have developed our non- UK recruitment footprint, focussed on executive level appointments and grown out an R&D focussed desk. I have also gone from having a stand alone team to managing the International team- as well as becoming a shareholder!

WHAT advice would you give someone joining?

Be prepared to work hard and remain adaptable, at Pod our emphasis on customer service means doing things I hadn’t really considered in previous roles, but I like to think that the strength of relationships is better because of that. Also be prepared to be yourself- we are a really eclectic bunch at Pod and we try to make everyone feel welcome as individuals- so don’t worry about leaving your ‘office persona’ at the door.

what is your role at pod?

I lead the International Procurement & Supply Chain desk, helping start-ups through to multinationals staff their global teams.

How has your role at Pod developed since joining?

I’ve touched upon a number of functional areas during in my time at Pod, initially joining our UK Manufacturing team before returning to my roots in Procurement & Supply Chain. The biggest change has been that I now recruit across the globe! It’s been great to work with such a diverse range of candidates and clients from a plethora of cultures and backgrounds.

WHAT advice would you give someone considering applying to pod?

Pod is vastly different from any other recruitment business I’ve encountered. They’ve managed to blend a high performance culture with an incredibly fun, supportive and familial environment which enables everybody to be their authentic selves, as well as thrive in their roles. If you still want to be a top performer but are tired of corporate, toxic or too “recruitery” environments, Pod might be an ideal landing spot.

what is your role at pod?

I'm a Senior Consultant in the UK Procurement team.

How has your role developed since joining?

I’ve been taking more of a lead on procurement, particularly within the FMCG/Food space.

WHAT advice would you give someone considering applying to join?

Ask questions! There’s so much to learn and it never really stops! I’m almost 4 years into recruitment and I’m still constantly learning. Also, be prepared to work for it and go that extra mile – it will pay off!
